Jess Buffett
Jess
Buffett was born and raised in New South Wales, Australia. She married her high
school sweetheart and they live on the Central Coast with their two children.
Jess is a hopeless romantic who loves stories about true love that sizzle
with a happy ending—which is probably a good thing given what she writes. She
is a huge fan of M/M and M/F romance—anything with hunky men in all their
glory, whether they be shifters, vampires, cowboys, or the boy next door. Jess
is a firm believer in soul mates, happily-ever-afters, and love at first sight,
but that sometimes people need a second or a third meeting for the brain to
catch up.
Dmitri's Little Spitfire
Elijah Collins is ashamed. Used to hurt his friends by Potestas, he now finds it hard to even look someone in the face. Especially Dmitri, his mate. When a truth about Elijah is discovered, Potestas also find out. Now that they know his true worth, he becomes an even bigger target than before.
Dimitri Kalas has always prided himself on being calm and in control. It is his job to help protect his Clan, and most importantly his mate. But when he finds out that the people responsible for hurting his Kayan’s mate have also been abusing his mate, he becomes incensed.
Will Dimitri be able to convince his mate that he is worth love and forgiveness? Or will Elijah allow his guilt to consume him and turn himself over to the enemy in order to keep his friends safe?
Snippet
“Wait, wait. If you give us what we
came for we’ll leave,” the intruder tried to bargain.
Pretending to consider the idea, he
asked, “What do you want?”
The man’s brows lifted, as if
surprised but pleased Dmitri would consider. Fuck no. If the man wanted what
Dmitri thought he did, then the fucker was going to die a long and painful
death.
“We just want the redhead. We know
you have him. Once we have him, we’ll leave you alone.”
He had to stop himself from rolling
his eyes. Even if they had considered turning Elijah over, which would happen
over his dead body, Potestas had no intention of leaving them alone. The group had been staking them out. Dmitri
had no doubt they were behind the attacks led by Victor Glasser, the mad
Vampire who had wiped out the Minto Guild. He had also led a charge on the
estate, attempting to take out Sawyer and Riley just over a year ago.
“Why? What could
that scrawny little thing mean to you?” Dmitri asked flippantly, trying to hide
the fury that coursed just under the surface.
A dark chuckle escaped the man. “You
don’t know what he is, do you?”
Dmitri stiffened. “He’s human.”
“No, he isn’t, but you knew that,
didn’t you?” The smug grin of
the other man’s face set Dmitri’s teeth on edge. “It’s your eyes. They give you
away. You already care about the kid, don’t you? What is he, your mate?” The man’s
grin was pure evil, and he knew he had struck Dmitri dead on. Damn, he should
not be so easy to read.
